Welcome to the most dazzling stage! We've curated multiple Mettaton EX battle simulators, allowing you to directly experience this rhythm-packed, star-studded showdown without traversing every corner of the Underground. Are you ready to win the applause of all the audience with your actions? Darling!
What is Mettaton EX?
Mettaton EX is a highly charismatic robot star in Undertale, created by Dr. Alphys to become the Underground's entertainment idol. He initially appears as a bulky, rectangular TV screen robot, but during the climax of his signature TV show "METTATON LIVE!", he dramatically presses the switch on his back and transforms into his more stylish, humanoid, and charming "Mettaton EX" form. Mettaton EX's goal is to please the audience and ultimately obtain a human soul to leave the Underground and become the greatest star in the surface world. Though arrogant and narcissistic, he has a unique pursuit of "genuine emotion" and "entertainment" deep in his heart. His existence is Undertale's unique satire and tribute to media, fame, and performing arts.
Core Gameplay - "Ratings" and "Performance"
The core of this battle is the "Ratings" mechanism. There's a ratings display in the upper left corner of the screen, and the player's goal is to increase ratings through various actions, rather than just reducing the boss's health:
- •Dodging bullets and counterattacking: Successfully avoiding Mettaton's attacks or dealing damage increases ratings
- •Using specific "ACT" options: Such as "Pose," "Attack with Flair," "wearing specific outfits," etc., which can significantly boost ratings
- •Collecting stars: Yellow stars appear during battle representing ratings - collecting them also increases ratings
- •When ratings reach a specific threshold (usually 10,000), Mettaton EX's defense drops dramatically, allowing players to truly defeat or "convince" him
Victory comes through performance and audience appeal, not traditional combat.
Bullet Patterns and Stage Elements
Mettaton EX's battle combines bullet-hell dodging, rhythm, and tests of "star quality." The opponent is player-controlled protagonist Frisk:
- •Spotlight Shooting: Mettaton EX fires lasers and spotlight beams from his feet or various parts of his body, requiring players to dodge on the narrow stage
- •Dance Steps and Rhythm: His attacks often accompany dance moves, with many bullet patterns having rhythm, testing players' prediction and sense of rhythm
- •Mini Monster Fans: He summons small robots or fans that fire various shaped bullets or obstruct player movement
- •Specific Item Attacks: Things like bombs, robot heads, and even his "legs" become part of the attacks
- •"Leg Mode": Certain phases focus fire on Mettaton EX's "legs," which are both his pride and a vulnerable point
Every attack is choreographed with theatrical flair, demanding both reflexes and rhythm.
Unique Background Music
His battle soundtrack "Death by Glamour" is one of the most well-known and beloved tracks in the game:
- •The dynamic melody perfectly matches the battle's rhythm and glamorous atmosphere
- •The music enhances the theatrical performance aspect of the fight
- •It's considered one of Undertale's most memorable and energetic boss themes
The soundtrack transforms the battle into a true entertainment spectacle.
